Garbage Patch State

The Garbage Patch State exhibition is a joint exhibition done by the third year students of the Interior Design program of IED Madrid (academic year 2012/2013), Izaskun Chinchilla (professor), and Cristina Finucci. The exhibition aims to raise awareness of the existence of the Garbage Patch State in the Pacific ocean.
PART 1
The first part of the project was to represent one characteristic of the ocean in interior design. I chose "The Smell" of the ocean, because it is one of the most distinctive characteristics of the sea.

PART 2
The second part of the project was to create spheres, as the main element of the exhibition, that represent the characteristic that we had chosen. I chose a geometric form to represent the smell, because it represents the different smells of different oceans. The text would then be illuminated from within, as a conceptual representation that the smell of the sea is something that you recognize only when you aren't seeking the smell.

PART 3
The third part of the project was to design different parts of the exhibition. I was paired up with Daniele Pieralli, and we had to design the zonification of our area as well as the graphic identity for the infographic that would represent our part.

The final part was the exhibition itself. The project was exhibited from February to March 2013 at the Gabinete de Exposiciones of IED Madrid (Calle Flor Alta, 8 Madrid).
